2025 Marker
We are currently recruiting markers for the 2025 exams. Opportunities are available across all subjects and levels, and full training will be provided.
Markers play an important role in supporting the exam diet. Their role is to ensure consistent application of national standards when marking candidate assessments.
Being a marker with SQA provides you with an inside look at our processes, procedures and national standards for a subject and level. It also offers a chance to develop skills and knowledge and provides an opportunity to gather evidence for continuing professional development.
To undertake the marker role you should ideally be currently delivering the qualification at the level you wish to apply for along with at least one more year of delivery experience; this can include a probation year and the two years do not need to be consecutive. Delivering the qualification is considered to be the teaching of the full course, and not only specific parts. We are unable to consider private tutoring as part of your experience. There may be an opportunity for you to be considered as a marker if you are not currently delivering the qualification. However, you must be able to demonstrate that you have delivered the qualification in the previous two years.
The Marker role profile provides details of the contract specification, selection criteria and key performance measures. Please refer to the criteria for marking before proceeding with your application.
Marker fees are paid and are based on scripts marked. Details will always be confirmed at time of contract.
Further information about becoming a marker can be found at https://www.sqaacademy.org.uk/marking
All successfully submitted applications will be auto acknowledged to the email registered with the application.
